About Steve

Steve Schick is a native son of Cleburne, Texas, a member of the Cleburne High School Class of 1972, and a proud 30-year firefighter/EMT veteran, including 26 years with the Cleburne Fire Department and 4 years with Johnson County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for Johnson County Memorial Hospital. Being a firefighter/EMT was a lifelong dream, and what he feels was his true calling in life. 

Since retiring as a firefighter/EMT in 2006, Steve has spent a lot of his waking hours with a guitar in his hand. Thanks in no small part to his very loving and patient wife Mary, he's played regularly throughout North Texas for over 40 years now, appearing in locations ranging from small intimate settings, such as fine dining establishments and private and corporate events, to large iconic venues such as Billy Bob’s Texas, Texas Motor Speedway, and The Cowtown Coliseum. 

Steve has been referred to as a Song Painter, painting pictures in the minds of the listeners with the words of the songs he sings. His music has painted pictures across a great swath of the US, including when he participated in the Great American Cattle Drive ’95 from Fort Worth, Texas, to Miles City, Montana. Steve authored and performed the theme song for the Drive, which was well received and highly praised.

Steve's relationship with God and his family are his highest priorities. Playing his music satisfies a lifelong passion for performing and entertaining, but working as a fireman was and always will be his true calling, providing the means to support his family and help others. While his official Fire/EMS duties ended when he retired, his passion for it has not faded. Expect Steve to keep writing and performing his music for as long as he's able, but his heart will always remain with the firefighting brotherhood.
